Steve Jobs bio pic - before
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, recently took six months off from most of his responsibilities at the company. Mr. Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few years ago and while the cancer is said to be in remission, he has been struggling with other major health issues. First off, while I’m sad to see him go, I respect his decision to take some time for himself. About a year ago I read an interesting little book Inside Steve’s Brain by Leander Kahney, which provides additional insight into Mr. Jobs genius and drive, as well as his idiosyncrasies and dogged passion. Check out that book if you want to know more about what makes him tick and how he works.
In 2005, Mr. Jobs addressed Stanford’s graduating class and I wanted to share an excerpt from that speech. From time to time, I’ll run across it in my notes and read it all over again –it’s truly inspirational.
When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

While he certainly is not a man without controversy and flaws of his own, I still think of Mr. Jobs as one of the greats of our time, an artist in every sense of the word. I hope his best days are ahead of him. Best wishes to him.

Excellent. I’m also a fan of Steve Jobs and hope he heals and returns to the company. It’s sad to see all the controversy surrounding his illness. It can’t be easy releasing private health information to the public.
That’s a great quote. As a fan of both Steve Jobs and ShareYoga, count me in for $50.
