Meditation Suggestion: On Love from Jiddu Krishnamurti (video)

by darla on February 17, 2009

Jiddu Krishnamurti passed away 13 years ago today at his home in Ojai, California and so today I’m suggesting a meditation on one of the subjects he spoke about often: the relationship between freedom, death and love. His works are so massive in quantity and scope, that it’s difficult for me to quote one bit of his speech and convey its entire essence. So if you’re new to his teachings (or not even), you may want to check out the introductory video below provided by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America. Enjoy!

Freedom and love go together. Love is not a reaction. If I love you because you love me, that is mere trade, a thing to be bought in the market; it is not love. To love is not to ask anything in return, not even to feel that you are giving something- and it is only such love that can know freedom. — Jiddu Krishnamurti, philosopher (May 12, 1895- February 17, 1986)
