Indian Sadhu

Every once in a while we run across links related to yoga, meditation, or personal growth and spirituality that we feel like sharing. It may be a news article, an inspiration, a tip or new product; and sometimes it’s just something mildly interesting or amusing. Since our name is SHARE yoga, we always aim to share these worthy items with you. Get it?

Here are a few items worth sharing today:

What You May Not Know About Yoga by Ed & Deb Shapiro: Informative article succinctly describing the five branches of yoga: Bhakti, Karma, Jnana, Raja, Hatha, plus bonus information about Tantra. PS Tantra yoga is not just about sexuality. Shucks.

What’s a Sadhu with You? : In Hinduism, sadhu (see picture) is a common term for an ascetic or practitioner of yoga (yogi) who has given up pursuit of the first three Hindu goals of life: kama (enjoyment), artha (practical objectives), and even dharma (duty). The sadhu is solely dedicated to achieving moksha (liberation) through meditation and contemplation of God. Sadhus often wear ochre-colored clothing, symbolizing renunciation.

Study reports that 40% of Americans Tap Into Alternative Healing Methods: The latest survey…found “significant increases” in some types of complementary and alternative medicines including deep breathing exercises, meditation, massage therapy and yoga. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOGA!

That’s all for today.

P.S. If you find a great blog article or news item or image about yoga, meditation or wellness that other yogis and seekers may enjoy, use our contact form to send it to us. We may share it in a future article.
