The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga

Bandha Yoga: The Key Muscles of Hatha YogaI am brimming with excitement and anticipation. I just ordered my very own copy of The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga by Ray Long MD. It is required reading for Segment 4 of my Yoga Teacher Training with Max Strom and Jamie Elmer, which is coming up in September. This book is amazing! It contains beautifully precise and lifelike illustrations of the human anatomy. Looking at your gooey innards has never been more fun.

The illustrations in the book remind me of Bodies: The Exhibition, which uses real human bodies in various athletic poses and daily occupational activities. The bodies in Bodies: The Exhibition are specially preserved and the skin has been removed, so that you can see how muscles and organs are used. It sounds gross, but it really is quite amazing.

Our bodies are miracles. Appreciate them. Love them. Take care of them. Enjoy them!

Namaste.
