Our friends on Twitter share with us their favorite yoga poses
The results are in from our first ever (extremely informal yet wholly scientific) Twitter poll. I asked our Twitter followers: What is your favorite yoga pose & why? With over 17 responses, only one pose was repeated more than once (see picture), which scientifically proves:
- Yoga has something for everybody and
- Our Twitter followers are unique individuals with their own wonderful tastes and inclinations, which is exactly what I had suspected.
- I need to review some of the Sanskrit names because I had to look up a couple of these.
Standing Bow Pose was the only pose to receive more than one vote (Source: bikramyogabozeman.org) PS Mine doesn't look like this yet.
Here’s what some of our Twittering yogis had to say:
astrid_amalia @shareyoga Sun Salutation! It really wakes me up in the morning
YogiSamantha @shareyoga mine shifts all the time. Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana because today I could reach my toe from over head! Never thought I would do that
arleigh @shareyoga supta virasana, feels like it opens my torso after slouching over steering wheel, computer, cooking, child, work.
SMKieras @shareyoga My favorite is standing bow pulling pose – Makes me feel accomplished b/c I’m aiming for perfect balance – inspiring!
madnessisay
@shareyoga right now, it’s bakasana. i’ve discovered a really great prop trick that helps upper body strength & aids in the “flying” feeling
ninjabug @shareyoga downward dog – it’s familiar but always new
YogaGyptc @shareyoga my fav in headstand. I am an inversion junkie for sure
sarvasoap @shareyoga honestly, a good old fashioned paschimottanasana
releases tension from hours of sitting and gets me grounded and centered.
misstania @shareyoga Bitilasana/Cow Pose – love how I feel after doing this posture – very happy!
Jenmalen @shareyoga my favourite pose- today, because it changes often- is the triangle.LOVE that beautiful stretch on the
outer edge of my hip
joshpolich108 @shareyoga cow face. Don’t know just love it!
KaitlinJean @shareyoga My favorite pose is Urdhva Prasarita Ekapadasana or Standing Split. It’s a great perspective shift.
JasonAg @shareyoga I love tree pose too! One of my favorites is Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose). Feels great for my back and wrists.
claraharris @shareyoga fav pose: fish pose b/c it makes my whole body happy, inside and out
jodidempster @shareyoga standing bow pose. It is not only one of the most graceful poses but also incredibly powerful in mind and spirit.
SophiaDembling @shareyoga Seated yoga mudra feels so darn good–I love the pressure on the top of my head.
areboyle @shareyoga Half Moon pose, I still can’t do it for more than a few seconds, but in those few seconds, I feel strong. It’s a great pose.
Now if that doesn’t make you want to get off the computer for a few minutes and try a “good ol’ fashioned paschimottanasana”, then I don’t know what will!

By the way, I love Cow Face Pose (Gomukhasana), too. Although I did state that Tree Pose and Bridge pose are my favorites. I think Cow Face Pose is nice because it deals with harnessing opposing energies moving in different directions. Just a thought.
Has to be Matsyendra Asana! for its effect on the whole body.
